(CNN) — If you’ve been paying attention to health news recently, you may have noticed a subtle but real shift in the way society discusses body weight. Beyond health care dollarsDespite changing attitudes about larger bodies, excess weight does carry a price. From a health care standpoint, it costs the country a lot of money. According to a study published in the journal The Lancet in 2020, 27% of total health care expenditures in 2016 — about $730.4 billion — could be attributed to “modifiable risk factors” for preventable health conditions like cardiovascular disease. That was eight years ago, when our total health care expenditure was $2.7 trillion, according to the study.

The National Climate Assessment, which comes out every four to five years, was released Tuesday with details that bring climate change's impacts down to a local level. Compared to earlier national assessments, this year’s uses far stronger language and “unequivocally” blames the burning of coal, oil and gas for climate change. In the Midwest, both extreme drought and flooding threaten crops and animal production, which can affect the global food supply. “Climate change is finally moving from an abstract future issue to a present, concrete, relevant issue. Five years ago, when the last assessment was issued, fewer people were experiencing climate change firsthand.

United States domestic oil production hit an all-time high last week, contrasting with efforts to slice heat-trapping carbon emissions by the Biden administration and world leaders. Weekly domestic oil production has doubled from the first week in October 2012 to now. White House officials have long considered increased oil production inside the United States as a bridge to help soften the transition to renewable energy sources. She said U.S. oil is less carbon-intensive than other oil, an argument the UAE’s oil company also makes. “Demand drives production — we need to change the whole system to reduce oil demand.”“Replacing oil in power production is a lot easier than replacing oil in transportation,” Gross said in an email.

Arm China is “an entity that operates independently of us and is our single largest customer,” the company said in its prospectus. A complex relationshipIn its filing, Arm said it held just a “4.8% indirect ownership interest in Arm China,” through a 10% non-voting stake in a SoftBank-controlled entity that owns less than half of the Chinese company. Arm has had trouble with Arm China before. Arm China has also been subject to a legal battle with its former CEO, Allen Wu. As of August, the cases had been resolved in favor of Arm China, it said, but the outcome could still be appealed.

YouTube is taking back the reins from TikTok as the official title sponsor of VidCon, the biggest convention for social media creators and their fans. From 2013-2019, YouTube served as the primary partner of VidCon, which veteran YouTubers John and Hank Green created. Many on the featured creators roster, such as Charli D’Amelio and Khaby Lame, got their big breaks on TikTok, not YouTube. “We are thrilled to have them return as the title sponsor to help drive our mission of putting digital culture and its creators center stage. “The unique relationship and trust between YouTube creators, their fans and the digital industry is what sets our platform apart,” Stanford said in the statement.
As a result, countries such as China and Japan have set lower BMI overweight and obesity thresholds for people of Asian descent. Experts generally agree that BMI should not be the only measure to assess patients’ health and weight. Instead of relying on BMI, physicians and patients should consider other factors in the weight equation. It incorporates various groups’ risk factors for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. “We do not plan to eliminate the BMI, but we plan to devise other strategies to evaluate the health associated with weight status,” said Stanford.
